Why does it matter?

Vegetarianism is a growing trend in today's times. As the average age for taking on  a vegetarian diet drops over the years, parents and doctors alike are becoming more concerned with this drop. There has been much debate over whether or not a vegetarian lifestyle is a healthy choice for adolescents. This is perhaps the most vital period of growth in a person's life. Many make the argument that it is or is nearly impossible for vegetarians to meet all of their nutritional and caloric requirements. On the other hand, the claim is made that vegetarians are able to meet these needs, while reducing the risk of many chronic illnesses as well. In this day-in-age, a greater focus is being placed on a healthy diet and lifestyle as more people are developing obesity and the many illnesses that accompany it. Although a vegetarian diet could greatly reduce the risk of developing these diseases, is it worth the risk of being protein deficient?
